The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has made it harder to see the dentist. For a while, most dentists were only seeing emergency patients, but how many offices are now reopening and are providing routine cleanings and other preventive services. Wondering if it’s safe to see a dentist in San Diego like Dr. Victor Tran at Origin Dental? Read on, and learn how we’re protecting our patients from this virus.
We have implemented social distancing precautions at our office, and reconfigured waiting areas to provide adequate space between individuals. We ask that, if possible, you come to your appointment alone and without any other family members to reduce the number of people in our office at any given time.
In addition to this, we are administering pre-treatment questionnaires to patients to minimize the risk of treating an infected individual. We have also taken steps to spread out patient appointments throughout the day, which will further reduce the risk of transmitting infectious viruses like COVID-19.
Both our dental team members and front office team members will be wearing PPE like masks, face shields, and glasses to prevent potential infection by COVID-19.
We are following all CDC, OSHA, and ADA guidelines for properly disposing of used PPE like gloves and masks, and for sanitizing reusable equipment like scrubs, coats, and face shields. All PPE will be left in the operatory where it was used until it’s disposed of properly and the operatory is thoroughly disinfected, which minimizes the risk of cross-contamination between patients.
We are taking every step we can to ensure that our operatories are free of infectious bacteria and viruses. Even before the COVID-19 outbreak, our team members thoroughly disinfected all operatories between patients, abiding by guidelines required by the ADA, OSHA, and CDC.
Beyond the cleaning of operatories and dental equipment, we’re also cleaning all frequently-used surfaces in our office more frequently, including doorknobs, bathrooms, counters, seating, and other such surfaces that may harbor infectious bacteria and viruses.
We are also offering hand sanitizer for all of our patients, who can also choose to wash their hands in our bathroom to minimize their risk of transmitting infectious illnesses.
Finally, all of our team members have been trained extensively in modern infection control best practices, such as sneeze and cough hygiene, minimizing cross-contamination between patients, and properly sanitizing dental tools.
COVID-19 coronavirus does not have to stop you from getting the dental care you need for a healthy mouth. At Origin Dental, we’re fully prepared to serve our patients during this difficult time, and Dr. Victor Tran has taken every possible precaution to keep you safe during your visit.
